IPJ Honors Novak With Award In His Name

On Friday, November 7, the Institute on Political Journalism (IPJ) will announce the renaming of one of its journalism awards as the Robert Novak Collegiate Journalism Award in honor of journalism giant, Robert Novak.

The announcement will be made during IPJ’s collegiate journalism conference “Election 2008: The Press, the Presidency & Politicians” at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel before 150 college journalists, professors, and media advisors. Mr. Novak has served as the senior judge for the journalism awards for years selecting the top work from among hundreds of entries each year.

“We are honored to name our Collegiate Journalism Award after Bob Novak,” said Roger Ream, President of The Fund for American Studies, which sponsors IPJ. “Bob Novak offers an example for aspiring journalists to follow. He is first and foremost a reporter who develops sources, digs for information, and reports the facts.”

The Robert Novak Collegiate Journalism Award is one of three awards that IPJ sponsors to recognize journalists from across the country including awards for excellence in economic and investigative reporting for professional print journalists. Cash prizes accompanying the awards total nearly $30,000, among the largest annual cash awards in journalism.
