Last night at Sixth Engine, CNN and National Journal hosted “Politics on Tap,” a joint interview by CNN’s Jake Tapper and NJ’s Ron Fournier’s of Sen. John McCain preceded by a panel discussion with CNN’s Peter Hamby and Brianna Keilar and NJ’s Michelle Cottle on pressing political issues.

The former presidential hopeful covered a lot of topical ground, including the downed Malaysia Airlines flight earlier that day, immigration, Israel and Iraq.

Asked by Tapper who from the Republican Party could run against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, McCain said, “I think we have a long list of people that could defeat Hillary Clinton. I think that Chris Christie is one. Jeb Bush is another. John Kasich is another. We’ve got some very successful governors that have done very well in their states that I think once exposed to the American people could be very competitive.”
