Juror Dismissed From Libby Trial

From Court TV’s Savannah Guthrie:

Well, a juror has been dismissed in the Scooter Libby trial. It seems Juror #1473, a female who looked to be in her late sixties, was exposed to some “information” about the case that she shouldn’t have seen. The judge will allow deliberations to go forward with just 11 jurors. That was what the defense requested. Team Libby didn’t want deliberations to have to start all over again, as would have been required if they brought in a fresh alternate (which was the government’s preference).

Ah, Juror #1473 was memorable. She was a former curator at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. During voir dire, we all took notice of her highly affected manner of speech, the way she slowly. and. dramatically. enunciated. every. word. When asked if she could set aside any personal feelings about the Bush administration if chosen as a juror in this case, she declared, “THAT is the obligation!”

And she showed an independent streak. When the jurors showed up to court on Valentine’s Day wearing bright red T-shirts with white hearts on them, the now-dismissed juror was the only one to hold out. She didn’t wear the shirt.

So, guess she won’t have a souvenir from the Libby trial.
