Maddow Issues Formal Apology to ‘Bernie’

I_m_sorry_dinner_421_ezr2.jpg Late last week, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow issued an on-air apology on her Friday night show to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for calling him by his first name.

“I called him Bernie, not Senator Sanders, not Senator, not Sir…like we hang out,” she said incredulously, laughing at herself.

Maddow had no explanation for it: “I did something I never do…I have no idea why it happened.”

The host even tweeted about it saying, “I can’t believe I called Senator Sanders ‘Bernie’ on air.”

The senator wasn’t offended. When Maddow phoned his office to apologize, they said never mind, everyone calls him “Bernie.”
