Major “Feels Weight” of White House-Fox News Feud

“I feel the weight of this on my shoulders perpetually and it makes my job harder,” White House correspondent Major Garrett said of the “feud” going on between his network Fox News and his beat, the White House.

Garrett’s comments were made at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center’s brown bag lunch this week. Garrett said it puts him in an uncomfortable position “as a journalist… and as a person” and that he doesn’t need White House endorsement. In journalism, he said, “everything is accountable on a daily basis” and on television, “on an hour-to-hour basis.”

He does have sympathy for the White House though, calling the presidency, “the toughest job on the planet.” (h/t Romenesko)
