Fox News senior White House correspondent Major Garrett had a tough night of tweeting last night. Really, it could happen to anyone.

Early in the evening, some excerpts he posted accidentally linked to “forwant.com” — a site with lots of butt and boob shots. “Hello gentleman, I’m Anastasia,” one woman’s caption enticed. There was also a naked woman in a sudsy bathtub.

The tweet that started it all: “To overcome the numbing weight of our politics” and other Obama SOTU excerpts http://bit.ly/d6W”.

This wasn’t quite what Garrett envisioned in an evening of serious SOTU coverage. But he persevered – and apologized as best as one can in a delicate situation like this. “I apologize,” he tweeted. “Bit.ly turned my original link to SOTU excerpts to a soft-porn link. NOT my intention.”

Then another apology came: “The link just posted works. Any frequent visitor here knows that is not my style. Sorry. Shld have caught it sooner.”

But soon Garrett had enough: “For those suckling snide syrup. I publicly acknowledged an innocent mistake and corrected it. If that’s not good enuf, take a hike.”
