Milbank Gets Feted By Juleanna

First, some party color from the Politico’s Mike Allen:

Juleanna Glover Weiss threw a jam-the-house-and-then-some book party for Dana Milbank and his “Homo Politicus,” which isn’t quite as racy as it sounds – “The Strange and Scary Tribes That Run Our Government.” In keeping with the theme, arrows directed guests to “Tribal Council” and the “War Room.” Adult beverages included “barbarian booze,” “shrunken head” (involves Maker’s), “wolf blood” and “warrior white.” Dana was on the couch and inaccessible behind a massive line. Our brush with greatness was touching a book he had actually signed. Juleanna’s father, Dr. Lloyd Glover, had a copy inscribed, with Milbankian panache, “To the Great Glovers.”

And, now, some pictures:

Also, check out this release from Milbank’s publisher:

Author Dana Milbank has committed to donating 75% of royalties of the second million hardcover copies sold* of HOMO POLITICUS: The Strange and Scary Tribes Who Run Our Government (Doubleday; On-sale: January 8, 2008) to a legal defense fund for former attorney general Alberto R. Gonzales, it was announced today by William Thomas, Senior Vice President and Editor In Chief, Doubleday Broadway Publishing Group….

Milbank, observing the inhumane treatment of Gonzales before and after his resignation, resolved to do whatever he could for the diminutive figure known affectionately as “Fredo.”

“Dana Milbank is not only a brilliant political observer, he’s also deeply compassionate,” said Thomas. “He cannot see a man like Gonzales in such desperate need without reaching into his pocket.”

Milbank voiced hope that he could make a difference in the life of the former White House counsel and Texas Supreme Court Justice. “I only hope I can sell a million and one copies, so I can be sure that former attorney general Gonzales receives at least one of my millions of dollars. I have always had a deep and abiding faith in the American book buyers, and I’m sure they won’t let Mr. Gonzales down.”
