Additional LAT Washington bureau departures, via a tipster:
Tom McCarthy (deputy bureau chief), Leslie Hoffecker (only female editor in the LAT Washington bureau — and in the whole Tribune Washington print operation) and reporters Jim Gerstenzang (White House correspondent and co-blogger,with fellow departee Johanna Neuman, of the “Countdown to Crawford” blog chronicling the final days of the Bush administration) and Rick Serrano (who wrote enterprise stories off the law-enforcement beat — most recent one, about Mexican drug wars spilling over onto the US side of the border, appeared Sunday). Also departing last week, but part of an earlier layoff: national reporter Steve Braun (who had a desk in the LAT bureau but reported to the national desk in LA) and blogger Don Frederick (who with his co-blogger, Andy Malcolm, won the publisher’s award at the in-house awards dinner in LA earlier this year for the Top of the Ticket politics blog). )
