Either Mike Allen is completely clueless on sports or the chief political correspondent for Politico may have actually made a funny joke. In Wednesday’s Playbook, he wrote about an upcoming fundraiser for Mitt Romney held at the home of Dan Snyder, the owner of the Redskins. Allen wrote, “”DAN SNYDER, the beloved Washington Redskins owner, will host Mitt Romney at an upcoming fundraiser at Snyder’s mansion in Potomac, Md.” BELOVED owner? Snyder might be one of the most reviled, hated men in ALL of professional sports. He is universally hated by Redskins fans. He was the subject of this notorious piece by the Washington City Paper, over which Snyder SUED the paper. What a strategy, when someone writes something mean about you, you SUE them. Bottom line: Snyder is a bad guy and is one of the biggest villains in the history of Washington, D.C.
While we can only hope that Allen was just joking, he doesn’t really make it clear. It’s not like he’s known for his sense of humor. Maybe for Mike, good jokes are the ones that have to be explained.
We wrote him for comment.
