  • An ABC release announced, “For the sixth consecutive week, ABC’s ‘World News with Charles Gibson’ was the #1 evening newscast among Total Viewers, Households and Adults 25-54. The last time that ABC won six straight weeks in these categories was more than ten years ago, in October 1996. For the week, ‘World News’ averaged 7.86 million Total Viewers and a 1.9/9 among Adults 25-54, outperforming NBC by 480,000 Total Viewers and 50,000 key demo viewers.”

  • The “TB Traveler” was “the biggest story of the week, filling 12% of the newshole, according to PEJ’s News Coverage Index from May 27-June 1. The TB saga was a top five story in all five media sectors, but it was primarily a television phenomenon. It was the top story in both network (16%) and cable TV (24%), although CNN’s prime-time lineup devoted far more time to the subject than Fox’s. And MSNBC’s cable talk lineup virtually ignored the story.”

      It looks like Tony Kornheiser’s last show for Washington Post Radio will be on Thursday, 6/28, before he leaves for his ESPN “Monday Night Football” duties. David Burd will continue doing his 5:30 AM to 8:30 AM WTWP show and will fill-in with Tony’s radio crew from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, with the 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM replay of Tony’s show continuing. Even though Tony will be “on the road,” he’ll still have a daily phone-in presence on his show, we’re told…..
