The State newspaper in South Carolina had copies of emails between Gov. Sanford and a woman named Maria for six months before they printed them yesterday. NYT has a look at this unique story here.


THR: Fox News is on track to have its most-watched year ever, showing significant ratings growth despite having just come off a high-flying election year. With the second quarter coming to a close, Fox News averaged about the same number of viewers as the top three other cable news networks combined.

TVNewser has a round-up from Variety of what TV journos have to say about Iran. ABC’s Jim Sciutto: “A few times we had people come up and say, ‘We’ve seen plainclothesmen looking at you, making phone calls,’ and then we’d have to move again.”

Speaking of Iran, the LATimes criticized MSNBC for not breaking into taped programming this weekend to cover Iran.

Bob Schieffer‘s younger brother has officially kicked off his run for governor of Texas. Tom Schieffer, a Democrat and a former ambassador to Australia and Japan during the administration of President George W. Bush, announced his candidacy in Fort Worth this morning, as reported by TVNewser.
