  • Today from 3:00-6:00 pm ET, C-SPAN will air a simulcast of XM’s P.O.T.U.S. Channel 130 ’1600′ program, a three hour, commercial free discussion on presidential politics hosted by Joe Mathieu.

  • Tonight at approximately 8:10 pm ET Friday night “C-SPAN will air the Drake University Forum on the Iowa Caucuses with representatives from the state Democratic & Republican Parties. This forum looks at the role Iowa plays in the presidential selection process.”

  • A Fox News release announced, “The New Hampshire Republican Party is pleased to announce that five presidential candidates have accepted their invitation to participate in the First-In-The-Nation Presidential Forum on Sunday January, 6th, 2008. The 90 minute forum will be presented live on FOX News Channel (FNC) and FOX News Radio beginning at 8:00pm ET, live from the campus of St. Anslem College in Goffstown, New Hampshire. FNC’s Chris Wallace will moderate the Forum.”

  • TVNewser reports, “In the NoonET hour of MSNBC’s coverage of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto anchor Tamron Hall interviewed Sen. Arlen Specter, who is in Islamabad. Sen. Specter and Rep. Patrick Kennedy were supposed to meet with Bhutto tonight. Hall asked Specter how he learned the news of Bhutto’s death. ‘Watching CNN,’ Specter said. ‘We heard first that there had been a suicide bomber attempt…then we heard that she was hurt critically and then the news came in that it was fatal.’ To their credit, MSNBC appears to be the only U.S. cable news network to have interviewed Specter.”

  • RCN “announced that its board of directors has renewed Peter D. Aquino as president and chief executive officer pursuant to the terms of a new, three-year agreement. James F. Mooney, who has served as executive chairman of RCN since 2005, has completed his service under the terms of his employment contract, and has decided to retire from the board. Michael E. Katzenstein, an independent member of the board of directors, has been named non-executive chairman of the board.”

Taking place just prior to the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primaries, the largest online community will be the first to choose their candidate for the nation’s highest office. Polls will close Wednesday, January 2 at 11:59 pm EST.”

  • Journal-isms reports, “Bhutto Killing Mobilizes SAJA: The South Asian Journalists Association moved quickly Thursday morning at news of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, opposition leader and former Pakistani prime minister. One of its board members, Aseem Chhabra, saw the news on CNN’s ‘American Morning,’ and e-mailed SAJA founder Sree Sreenivasan, who is on vacation in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains but has access to the SAJA Web site, as one of four who blogs regularly on it.”

  • XM Satellite Radio’s presidential campaign station POTUS ’08 “will broadcast nationwide from the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primaries in January. On January 3, the station will broadcast from the Des Moines convention center and the C-SPAN campaign bus in Iowa, as well as its home studio in northeast Washington. Then the POTUS team will head to Manchester to report on the New Hampshire primary January 7 through 9 with reports from the Expo Center of New Hampshire, the C-SPAN bus, and its DC studio. Those without XM radios can listen to a free, 14-day trial of the POTUS radio station online at www.xmradio.com/potus. Those who do have XM radios can listen to the station on channel 130.”

  • Also, “C-SPAN will televise the POTUS ’08 radio station ‘at work’ live on Friday, December 28, from 3 pm to 6 pm ET from the XM studios in northeast D.C.”
