MTV Airs Ferguson PSA During VMAs

Sunday night during the MTV Video Music Awards, the network aired two commercials as part of its Look Different campaign to end racial, gender, and anti-LGBT bias, created with the Anti-Defamation League, NAACP, National Council of La Raza, and Southern Poverty Law Center.

One of the two 15 second PSAs featured the quote, “Not everything that is faced can be changed; but nothing can be changed until it is faced,” by James Baldwin overtop an image of a sign at an entry point to Ferguson, Mo., a town that’s gripped national headlines after a white police officer, Darren Wilson, fatally shot an unarmed black 18-year-old, Michael Brown, earlier this month.
