News Notes: Harwood, Wolf and Honoring Novak

A few things we thought you should know…

Politico caught up with CNBC’s chief Washington correspondent John Harwood post-President Obama’s OTR-turned-viral Kayne “jackass” comment. “The custom in television, as I understand it, is that when you have an interview of this kind, the little chit-chat when you are getting ready to sit down to do the real interview is off the record,” he said.

And on ABC’s Terry Moran: “My understanding is that he tweeted it without realizing it was understood to be off the record,” Harwood said, while describing Moran as “a class act and a good journalist.”

Wolf Blitzer will have an exclusive interview with President Hamid Karzai about “U.S. troop presence in the country, the accusation of fraud in the recent presidential election and other important issues,” according to a release. Interview will air tomorrow on CNN’s “The Situation Room.”

• The Phillips Foundation announced today that it will name its Journalism Fellowship Program in honor of Robert Novak. The legendary newsman passed away last month of brain cancer.
