“NewsHour” Gets a Make-Over

“PBS Newshour” will debut next Monday with a name change, a rotating co-anchor and a new reporter- Hari Sreenivasan, formerly of CBS News. WaPo‘s Howard Kurtz notes it will be the first time since Gerald Ford was President that Jim Lehrer‘s name- “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer”- will not be on the newscast.

Lehrer will remain the executive editor of the program and he’ll be joined at the anchor desk by PBS correspondents Gwen Ifill, Judy Woodruff and Jeffrey Brown. Ifill will co-anchor next Monday, NYT notes.

The revamped “NewsHour” website debuts Thursday with new blogs and video. “NewsHour” has also joined Facebook and Twitter, though Lehrer still “scoffs at the notion of tweeting,” Kurtz reports.
