NYT, WaPo Raise Prices

Everyone’s raising prices nowadays…

From the WaPo:

Effective Monday, July 7, the price for home-delivered weekday and Saturday issues of The Washington Post in the greater Washington area will increase by 6 cents a day, to 41 cents, plus applicable sales tax. The price of a home-delivered Sunday edition of The Post will remain unchanged.

Within retail outlets and at vending machines, the price of The Washington Post will not increase. The Post will continue to sell for 50 cents on Monday through Saturday and for $1.50 on Sunday in the greater Washington area.

And area New York Times subscribers received this notice along with their paper this week:

Effective Monday, July 7, there will be an increase in the price of home delivery of The Times. The new weekly rates are shown below, and represent and increase of 30 to 60 cents per week, depending on which days oft he week you receive service. …

New weekly home delivery rates in your area, effective July 7, 2008:

Monday – Friday: $6.70
Sunday only: $6.80
Saturday and Sunday: $8.10
Monday – Saturday: $8.16
Friday – Sunday: $9.40
Sunday – Friday: $12.90
Seven days: $13.40
