Obama On Matthews’ Controversies

Discussing Rev. Wright on “Hardball”‘s College Tour today, Sen. Barack Obama had this exchange with host Chris Matthews:

    Matthews: Why didn’t you walk out of that church? Why, when you haard what you called controversial language, why did you go back and give $27,000 in contributions to that church? …

    Obama: … I never heard him say those things that were in those clips …

    Matthews: But you did say you heard him say controversial things.

    Obama: Well I’ve heard you say controversial things.

    Matthews: But you didn’t give me $27,000 either!
