Outing the Anonymice Blahous

Following up on last week’s post about the anonymice officials who do the administration’s “background officials,” Dan Froomkin pointed out that Newsweek went ahead and outed the source of the administration’s main social security briefing: Charles P. “Chuck” Blahous III, the White House’s Social Security point man.

Froomkin writes, “That briefing, enigmatic as it was, remains the most detailed given by the White House about how private accounts would work.” Sort of makes you wonder, doesn’t it, why the administration would insist on anonymity and–perhaps more importantly–why all of the rest of the press would grant it?
