Poaching Season Opens

An interesting posting from the mediabistro.com bulletin boards:

“There’s a serious luxury magazine in the DC area willing to offer current account executives in Capitol File and the other 2 glossies a 15 -25% base salary increase for joining their team starting January 15th. This is a large publication entering 2006 with a massive expansion and campaign that DC will truly notice. Get ready for a major shakeup in the DC-area magazine industry. This one is going to make the others quite nervous in the next 2 months.”

Any ideas what magazine this is? Our money would be on Two Mundos, the bilingual luxury magazine that launched earlier this year.

On a larger note, is this the beginning of some magazine wars in this city? With the first year under the belts of DC Style, Capitol File, and DC Magazine (as well as Dos Worlds), will there be some shake-outs in the coming year? DC Style is already repositioning itself as the Cosmo of D.C. What else is coming?
