Politico‘s Dylan Byers is beside himself with joy this morning.

“Some big blog news coming down the pipeline in minutes,” he wrote us this morning at 7:59 a.m.

Holy s#!&! What could it possibly be? Is he having dinner with Nate Silver? Have VandeHarris commissioned him to dress up in a chicken costume? No and no. The news is that Byers’ colleague Hadas Gold is coming aboard the “On Media” blog. Up to this point, his second writer has been Mackenzie Weinger, who will still write about media but will mainly do so for Politico’s homepage. “Mackenzie is continuing to cover media as part of POLITICO’s team of reporters on that beat,” said Byers.

Hadas is currently a breaking news reporter for the pub. She was born in Tel Aviv and raised in Arizona. She has a B.A. in journalism and M.A. in media and public affairs from GWU. A noteworthy internship under her belt: CBS’ “60 Minutes.”

Byers had nothing but the highest praise.

“She’s extraordinary…. really feels like a new era for the blog,” he told FishbowlDC.
