President Barack Obama Lectures at 1776

This morning, President Barack Obama stopped by 1776, a DC startup incubator, to offer a lecture to members.

The 1776 campus serves as a hub for startups tackling issues in the industries of education, energy, health care, and government.

Membership offers mentoring, corporate connections, access to capital, media attention, and talent.

1776 was founded in January 2013 by entrepreneurs Evan Burfield and Donna Harris.

“America is moving forward—do not forget that,” Obama told the morning’s assembly. “Often we harp on what’s wrong but improvement is very much present.”

“We could not have imagined a more patriotic way to start our Fourth of July weekend and appreciate the support that the President showed our member companies today,” wrote Melissa Steffan, 1776 assistant editor, in 1776′s recap of the event.
