Radio-TV Correspondents’ Dinner Changes its Name

An event long known as the Radio-TV Correspondents’ Dinner is now being called the Congressional Correspondents’ Dinner.

The first annual event under the new name will be held on March 30 at the D.C. Convention Center and includes dinner, speeches and entertainment. The entertainment isn’t being revealed just yet, we’re told. It will be the 67th annual dinner sponsored by the Congress-based Radio-Television Correspondents’ Association. Members of the print and photography’s galleries will now be able to purchase tickets.

“This is the first public announcement since the RTCA Board changed the name in a closed meeting last year,” C-SPAN’s Peter Slen told FishbowlDC. He explained, “The RTCA board felt it better reflected who was in attendance, especially since we’re opening up ticket sales this year for the first time to all congressionally-accredited media, not just accredited members of the Radio-Television Gallery.”
