Loose Cannon proposes a suitable punishment: Instead of Olbermann’s “worst person” segment, the network suits should offer us a “best person” for awhile. They could start with Jerry Holtzman, who, except for a two-year stint in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, worked for newspapers for 50 years, before becoming major league baseball’s official historian at the age of 72. Olbermann made his name in television as a gifted sports commentator, so he might go for that. As for Holtzman, he died last summer at the age of 81. I hate to think that an honorable ethic died with him.
