Roll Call Hires Deutsch

From the internal announcement, obtained by FishbowlDC:

I am pleased to announce that Jack Deutsch will be joining us next month as our new deputy editor. Jack comes to us from CongressDaily, where he served as managing editor for four years. Jack also served as an editor at Congressional Quarterly for five years, and prior to that was the Charleston (W.Va.) Daily Mail’s one-man bureau on Capitol Hill. (He owned the Robert Byrd beat, back in the day.) As deputy editor Jack will manage the House and Senate reporting teams, as well as contribute throughout the paper and help to chart an editorial path for Roll Call Group.

While Jack brings little to the Roll Call softball team, he is thoroughly versed in the ways of Congress, he is known for managing reporting teams with a deft hand and he is an inexhaustible source of ideas for unique, entertaining stories. Jack will come on board on Feb. 19, but I hope he’ll have a chance to meet many of you in the coming weeks.
