Some Promotions at NBC’s Washington Bureau
NBC Washington bureau chief Mark Whitaker announced a few well-deserveds ups today.
Alicia Jennings- who Whitaker calls “a master at juggling the many editorial, logistical and diplomatic balls on the White House beat”- has been promoted to senior White House producer.
And gearing up for 2010 mid-term elections (editor’s note: we’re not ready), the political unit’s Domenico Montanaro has been named an off-air political reporter. Montanaro works on First Read with Chief White House correspondent and political director Chuck Todd and deputy Mark Murray.

Subject: Moving Up
I’m delighted to announce two well-deserved promotions:
ALICIA JENNINGS becomes Senior White House Producer. Since moving to the White House in 2003-jumping into the deep end with President Bush’s five-nation trip to Africa–Alicia has become a master at juggling the many editorial, logistical and diplomatic balls on the White House beat. She has helped us make a seamless transition to a new administration all while taking a few months off to have her second child. She will be a superb leader to our White House production team of Scott Foster and Athena Jones.
DOMENICO MONTANARO becomes an off-air Political Reporter. Since joining us as a researcher in the Political Unit in 2007, Domenico has helped Chuck Todd and Mark Murray to make First Read a must-read inside and outside NBC News and to deliver the smartest day-to-day coverage of politics on television. In addition to his P Unit duties, he will be pitching in on Capitol Hill and taking on other field assignments as we gear up for the 2010 mid-term elections.
Please join me in congratulating Alicia and Domenico and wishing them good luck.
Cheers, Mark
