Slate‘s Dave Weigel has so much in common with First Lady Michelle Obama these days. For one thing, their uncanny physically resemblance. But more importantly, their love of Targét.

A FishbowlDC spy spotted Weigel on the escalator of Targét’s Columbia Heights location on Sunday afternoon.

Unlike Michelle, he hadn’t donned big, dark sunglasses or purposefully dressed in clothing scummy enough to blend in with the masses. “He was wearing gym-ish clothes and his basket had tortilla chips in them,” our spy informed. He was also carrying what appeared to be an Eddie Bauer shoulder bag with the manufacturer’s tag still attached. Our spy felt it should be removed.

Asked about his appearance at Targét, a forthcoming Weigel remarked, “Yeah, I often stop there after the gym. I needed, and obtained, some shoe polish and tortilla chips while listening to the ‘Sound of Young America’ podcast interview with Susan Orlean.”
