State Dept. Asked Twitter To Delay Scheduled Maintenance
We told you earlier today that Twitter had delayed previously scheduled maintenance in order to remain accessible in Iran. Twitter has been one of the few ways Iranians have been able to communicate with each other and with the outside world during this contentious time.
We just learned this was at the request of the State Department.
A CNN State Department producer blogs that this is not an indication that the US is attempting to get involved in Iran, but officials are working with multiple social-networking and communication services to ensure that communication remains open.
