Sun Taps NYT’s Madigan As Media Writer

Word out of the Baltimore Sun’s newsroom today that the Tribune paper has hired Nick Madigan, a Los Angeles-based correspondent for The New York Times, to fill the paper’s media writer position.**

That post, built by David Folkenflik (now of NPR), which the paper had filled in March with the Courant’s Liz Halloran, was suddenly left vacant again in April when Halloran departed rapidly for a senior writer job at U.S. News and World Report here in D.C.

According to Sun editor Tim Franklin’s memo to staff, Madigan will join The Sun on June 27 and work from Los Angeles through the summer before settling in Baltimore early in the fall.

** Disclosure: The Sun approached and interviewed us for this position earlier this month.
