Sunday Show Ratings, 2.23.14: ABC Wins Big Over NBC, CBS

ABC’s “This Week” was the top Sunday show last week, pulling in 3.15 million total viewers and 963,000 viewers in the key 25 -54 demographic. The win for ABC was surprising given that “Meet the Press” was still benefiting from a boost in ratings due to NBC carrying the Olympics. They also boasted an exclusive interview with National Security Adviser Susan Rice. “MTP” still wins for the month of February (a sweep month) with an average of 3.27 million viewers each week compared to “This Week”‘s 3.07 million and “Face the Nation”‘s 3.22 million (half hour) / 2.5 million (full hour).

NBC can definitely celebrate a great sweeps month, but they nonetheless must be somewhat concerned about what will happen next month, when the Olympics won’t be in the mix.

Here’s more from our sister site, TVNewser:

This week’s win was ABC’s largest total-viewer advantage over NBC in 16 years (since 8/31/97).

Compared to the same week last year, ABC, NBC, Fox and Univision are all up in both ratings measurements, with “Al Punto” showing the most growth: +50% in total viewers and +56% in A25-54 viewers. CBS was down -5% in total viewers and up +5% in the demo.

The numbers for February 23:

Network Program Total Viewers A25-54
ABC
“This Week” 3.15M 963K
CBS
“Face the Nation” 2.95M 844K
NBC “Meet the Press” 2.39M 807K
FOX “Fox News Sunday” 1.31M 471K
Univision “Al Punto” 1.17M 617K

“Face the Nation” is based on the first half-hour only, as the full contiguous hour aired in just 50% of the country.
