Meet the Press Rated DC’s #1 Sunday Show Again

04AbiJGzOnce again, Meet the Press with Chuck Todd was the number one rated Sunday show last week (November 23rd) in terms of both total viewers and demographics in the Washington, DC market.

The show beat the competition (CBS News’ Face The Nation, ABC News’ This Week, Fox News Sunday) combined by 20,000 viewers.

The edition featured interviews with Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) on immigration; a discussion on Ferguson with Rudy Giuliani, Former New York City Mayor, Michael Eric Dyson, Professor at Georgetown University & Anthony Gray, Attorney, The Michael Brown Family; a discussion on Keystone with John Hofmeister, Fmr. Chief Executive Officer, Shell Oil, & Daniel Yergin, Pulitzer-Prize winning author, “The Prize: The Epic Quest For Oil, Money & Power”. Plus a political panel with Joe Scarborough, MSNBC’s Jose Diaz-Balart, The Cook Political Report’s Amy Walter and Fmr. Gov. Bill Richardson (D-NM).

‘Kissing the Ring’ – Face The Nation’s 60th Anniversary Celebration

105748_0258Bigwig politicians, reporters and DC socialites, all showed up Monday night to the Newsuem in downtown Washington to honor Bob Schieffer and 60 years of exceptional journalism by Face The Nation. In something rarely seen in Washington, the evening began with a moment of agreement and lightheartedness between partisans.

“I’ve had 101 appearances on ‘Face the Nation,’ which exactly matches my age,” joked Senator John McCain, ”The first time I was on, … Bob … and I had an in-depth discussion about the aviation policies of Calvin Coolidge. … I have been on a number of shows. Always I’m reluctant to do so, I’m sure you know. [Laughter.] … I want to thank Mary Hager, who has been with Bob as his producer for all this time. … For a very short statement, I think next is the Vice President. That will be interesting. [Laughter.]”

Gwen Ifill, Judy Woodruff to Lead PBS NewsHour’s Election Night Coverage

7907972038_f67b6c9dd0_o_slideshow-300x200“PBS NewsHour’s” Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff will co-host live programming starting at 6 pm on Tuesday, November 4 of the midterm elections. Updated editions of NewsHour will air at 7 pm and 9 pm and all programming will appear both in broadcast and online.

And later at 11 pm, Ifill and Woodruff will host a 30-minute special on the latest results from Senate, House and gubernatorial races throughout the country. Joining the NewsHour co-anchors throughout the evening will be weekend anchor Hari Sreenivasan, columnist Mark Shields, former speechwriter for President George W. Bush Michael Gerson, Cook Political Report’s Amy Walter, Rothenberg Political Report’s Stu Rothenberg, NewsHour’s Domenico Montanaro, and recent hire Lisa Desjardins.

Online, in addition to live streamed coverage, “PBS NewsHour” will feature an interactive election center with live election results and a live blog reporting on key races throughout the country.

Chuck Todd’s Debut as ‘Meet the Press’ Moderator

Meet the Press - Season 67 Chuck Todd debuted as the 12th moderator of the nation’s longest running TV program Sunday. For his first “Meet the Press” Todd landed a one-on-one with Pres. Barack Obama.

The two discussed several national and international concerns for the U.S., including the threat of ISIS, the Ebola outbreak, and the optics of golfing after his statement on the beheading by ISIS of American journalist James Foley, among other topics.

At the start of the interview, Todd asked Obama whether he was preparing to go back to war to combat ISIS, with President Obama announcing a Wednesday speech on his game plan. Read more
