Seems we’re having an avalanche of panel events.

Italian Ambassador Giulio Terzi is hosting a panel discussion called “What’s Next In U.S. Politics?” The discussion also includes a “book presentation” by MSNBC Commentator Richard Wolffe, author of  Revival: The Struggle For Survival Inside the Obama White House. On the panel will be NYT‘s Helene Cooper , CNN International Contributor Bill Schneider and The Weekly Standard’s/Fox News’s Stephen Hayes. The moderator will be Gerardo Greco. A reception is scheduled to follow the panel discussion.

Some big D.C. names are judging The Reed Awards to be announced tonight at the Washington Marriott.

The second annual Reed Awards, sponsored by Aristotle, announces the winners of such “special” awards as “Best Campaign Comeback”, “Best Villain Used in Political Media” and “Most Explosive Collaboration of the Year”. (It’s hard to believe anything with the word “special” in it is going to be favorable.)

Judges include The Daily Beast’s Mark McKinnon, Christine Pelosi (House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) daughter, pollster Mark Penn, newsman Bill Schneider, C-SPAN’s Steve Scully, Democratic strategist Bob Shrum, GMA’s George Stephanopoulos, NBC’s Chuck Todd, former NJ Gov. Christine Todd Whitman and “dozens of other political celebrities for the more than 70 achievement categories.”

With Aristotle as the lead sponsor, CEO John Phillips will definitely attend (and he may be in this outlandish hat considering the chill). It’s no sure thing that these well-known judges will attend, a spokeswoman told FishbowlDC. But yes, they’ve all participated in the judging.

On Thursday January 21, 2010, American University will host “The First Year of the Obama Administration: Its Successes and Failures, Legislatively and Politically.” The three hour event will feature two panels of notable media types followed by Q&A.

Hosted by Time‘s Jay Newton Small, the event will be held from 9.30 – 12.30 in Room 603 of AU’s Washington College of Law. Panelists include Phil Elliott of the AP, CNN’s Bill Schneider, TPM’s Christina Bellantoni, Matt Continetti from The Weekly Standard,Daily Caller’s Jon Ward, CNN Political Commentator Karen Finney and Dem pollster Celinda Lake.

Don’t worry– the “best political team on television” isn’t breaking up. But CNN’s senior political analyst Bill Schneider is additionally joining think tank Third Way as the organization’s first Distinguished Senior Fellow & Resident Scholar.

Schneider will also be joining the George Mason University as the Hirst Professor of Public Policy, still continuing at CNN and as a contributing editor to National Journal.

In a press release from Third Way, Schneider said: “Third Way has offered visionary, forward-thinking ideas on the issues that matter most. We are at an important juncture in America’s political history, and I look forward to continuing and expanding my work with Third Way.”
