Billie Jean King on Bret Baier: “He’s a Wild Man”

Just hours before the Washington Kastles defeated the Springfield Lasers to win the World Team Tennis championship, some of DC’s top media personalities showed off their own skills in a celebrity match. If you were brave enough to kick it court-side in Sunday’s sweltering heat, you would have caught Bret Baier, Ed Henry, Margaret Carlson, Al Hunt, Jonathan Karl, WTTG’s Dave Feldman, Audrey Barnes of WUSA-9, Angie Goff of WUSA-9 and Jurek Martin of the Financial Times.

Media-minis served as ball boys and girls for the match: Betsy Fischer‘s daughter Ella, Tammy Haddad‘s kids Rachel and David and Ed Henry’s son Patrick were all on hand to help out.

Tennis legend Billie Jean King was on the court to coach Baier’s team. When asked about the Fox newsman, King replied “he’s a wild man.” Check out the video from TWT‘s Liz Glover:

Media Night With The Washington Kastles

Well, it may not have officially been media night at the Washington Kastles match, but plenty of journos came out last night to see Serena Williams play in her first and only home match.

Joining Kastles owner Mark Ein in the front row was National Economic Council director Larry Summers, Bloomberg’s Margaret Carlson and Al Hunt, with wife Judy Woodruff of PBS. Also in the stands: Tammy Haddad, Betsy Fischer, Luke Russert, Hilary Rosen and the lovely ladies of Qorvis Kelly McCormick, Chelsea Cummings and Katie Young.

Michelle Fenty was there with her boys- who got a high-five from Ein after nearly every Kastles point scored. Legendary tennis player Billie Jean King was also there to cheer Serena on.
