Jeff Fager Stepping Down as CBS News Chairman to Return to ’60 Minutes’

Courtesy of CBSCBS News’s Jeff Fager is stepping down from his perch as the network’s chairman to return to “60 Minutes” full-time as the executive producer.

Fager served as CBS News’s chairman for four years, and had worked as the executive producer of the show for seven years before that. Now he’s ready to get back to the beat.

“You can find me at my favorite perch across the street…working on stories at 60 Minutes,” Fager said in an email announcement. More on Fager’s work at CBS here.

James Brown has come a long way from his days at Channel 9 — then WDVM-TV. The CBS News and CBS Sports anchor, who begins hosting Thursday Night Football tomorrow night, got his first big break as the commentator for the then-Washington Bullets. He got the job after impressing the bosses when he brought the team’s star over on his day off “and conducted a pretty decent interview,” he says. But it wasn’t always smooth sailing:
