We received in our mailbox today the latest edition of Capitol File magazine. And all I could think was “what in the Jason Binn hell were they thinking with that cover photo of Chelsea Handler?” The comedienne and three-time White House Correspondents Dinner guest must have pissed off someone at Niche Media because Cap File dressed her like a late 90s Ellen DeGeneres and styled her with used hair extensions from the Dina Lohan collection. WTF?

So who wins the “D-bag du Jour” award for WHCA Dinner?

This cameraman from Entertainment Tonight who crashed the CBS pre-party in search of Katie Couric and Chelsea Handler. After shoving passed guests as if they were somehow in the wrong for being there, he spun his camera around for the money shot, knocking into drinks and spilling a cocktail down the tuxedo of Jeff Witjas, longtime agent and manager of Betty White.

When the cameraman felt the drinks splash off the ground, he barked “Hey! what’s going on back there!?” and then chuckled to himself. He never apologized and was finally escorted out by a CBS News staffer.

Hey D-bag, I’ll tell you what was “going on back there.” You were winning my “D-bag du Jour” award and I was snapping your picture. If you know this cameraman, send him my congrats.

WHCA Dinner: CBS, You Had Me at “Handler”

And just when I thought ABC’s WHCA Dinner list (complete with Modern Family actors Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell) couldn’t be topped…at least for me personally. CBS goes and snags one of my faves, funny girl Chelsea Handler. Handler will attend as a guest of CBS’ Katie Couric.

Between Rahm Emanuel and Chelsea Handler, expect to hear a lot of F-bombs being dropped from CBS’ side of the room…

Chelsea’s Handlers Mishandle D.C. Media

If we couldn’t have Chelsea Handler, couldn’t her handlers at least have given us her petite sidekick Chuy Bravo? The nerve. E!’s late night talk show host was in town this past weekend for a performance at DAR Constitution Hall and for a book signing at Borders for her new tome with the ever classy title, Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang. Our sources tell us Borders PR set up media interviews only to have them canceled by Handler’s handlers. Comedian Kathy Griffin was far more accessible to D.C. media during her recent visit, with handlers treating press to a variety of interviews.

As reporters know, sometimes handlers are the worst part of the show.
