Politico Reporter Engages in Twitter Lashing With Chris Brown Fan

Over the weekend Politico congressional reporter Jake Sherman found himself fighting with a male fan of R&B singer/female puncher Chris Brown. So he did what any self-respecting journalist would, and tried to educate him.

A lot has been written about the recent Twitter feud between comedy writer Jenny Johnson and Brown. The singer launched a series of expletive-laden tweets directed at Johnson, which resulted in the deactivation of his Twitter account. HuffPost has compiled all of his tweets here.

In the middle of this Clash of the Twitter Titans, fans of both parties began talking trash. Among them was Sherman, who wrote, “Not surprised @chrisbrown said something disgusting to a woman on Twitter. The guy is complete scum. No one should support his endeavors.”

Roland on Rihanna, Chris Brown Love: MYOB

Over the long holiday weekend, CNN Contributor and Washington Watch’s Roland Martin defended the rumored reunion of Rihanna and Chris Brown. Brown beat Rihanna to a pulp in 2009, for which he publicly apologized. In the incident, Rihanna told police that Brown punched her and bit her.

“I’ve only met @chrisbrown & @rihanna once,” Martin opined on Twitter. “I only hope they have healed internally, have matured & learned how to love in a healthy way. But somebody needs to say that their relationship ain’t nobody’s business but that of @rihanna and@chrisbrown. So live healthy & whole!”

Martin took flack for his stance, but didn’t back down.

‘America’s Most Wanted’ on Rocks: From Most Wanted to Hope Wanted

FOX’s “America’s Most Wanted,” based in Bethesda, is in a troubled state of affairs – and not because of the fugitives and outlaw motorcycle gangs they search for, but because of layoffs. As of late, the show has laid off an approximate 30 percent of their staff, including the entire LA-based West Coast Bureau.

Avery Mann, director of publicity based in Bethesda, lost both his deputies, Geri West and Nicole Cates. Mann did not return an e-mail request for comment. Mann’s voice mail says he prefers e-mail requests for comment.

Some 30-year reporters and producers (including West Coast Bureau Chief Van King) are out of work as a result. One staffer (still employed there) called it a “blood bath” while another producer, still employed, says they have no idea how they’re going to get the show on the air each week.

Roughly a dozen on and off-air staffers resigned on their own accord in the last year (including Quinn & Gillespie’s Chris Brown and Fox News/HLN commentator Michelle Sigona).

This latest round of losses adds 20 staffers to the roster.

Washington Life Executive Editor Michael Clements held court at the Textile Museum last night for Washington Life’s “Best of Peru” party. The event, featuring Peruvian travel destinations, alpaca fashion, native delicacies and home decor ideas was the perfect venue for a Pisco Sour Mix-off.

While seven of the area’s top mixologists created their versions of the famed Peruvian potion, media types such as Pamela’s Punch blogger Pamela Sorensen, Allison Priebe Brooks,Lee Brenner, CBS’ Christine Delargy, Washington Life’s Kevin Chaffee, QGA’s Chris Brown, Brendan Kownacki and Kimball Stroud mingled under the tent to the beat of the band.

Brag Book alum Brendan Kownacki with America’s Most Wanted Managing Editor Chris Brown at mediabistro’s November mixer last night.

Let the real bragging begin! About a month ago, FishbowlDC started a feature called “Brag Book,” an abbreviated FBDC interview where friends of the “Bowl” can offer up some of their accomplishments and a little personal info to help them a land a new gig.

Last night at mediabistro’s mixer, we ran into October 1st “Brag Book” alum Brendan Kownacki who had some good news to share. Apparently Kownacki’s post garnered the attention of a company called Spectrum where he was hired as a senior digital strategist.
