1. Stormy Strip Club — There are few things more disturbing than waking up to CNN and The Daily Beast’s Howard Kurtz tweeting about sexy strippers. This morning he highlights a story by Lauren Ashburn on their Daily Download site in which Ashburn passes through Georgetown last night and notices a light on. Sure enough it’s the Good Guys Club. She writes about how she had to stop for the sake of the story — sex sells, a new concept, right? She spoke briefly to a stripper in a blonde wig who won’t give her name. “Georgetown Cupcake is open down the street,” the “well-endowed, slightly overweight stripper” told Ashburn.  “I know men would much rather come here.”

2. Frankenstorm Style — WaPo Style Section writer Emily Wax brings us the lexicon of Hurricane Sandy this morning. She asserts that the “cliches” and “neologisms” are a way of trying to control the uncontrollable. She explains the words and images that cropped up for Sandy, including “ponding” and Sandy from “Grease.” Read here.

3. Reporters covering Sandy – In a piece published at the crack of dawn, The Atlantic‘s Conor Friedersdorf writes about reporters covering Hurricane Sandy. The story takes a distinct point of view — namely that reporters shouldn’t be out in the storm. He writes, “The notion that it is safe to stand in waist high floodwater and gale force winds, given a bit of experience, is nonsense. And it undercuts rather than strengthens the message that people should stay inside.” He calls it “pure entertainment” value that has little other value. Read here.

Good News, Bad News and Peach Yogurt

First the bad news. U.S. News & World Report was seriously asleep at the wheel Thursday as a Washington Whispers writer fell for a ludicrous, obviously fake Twitter account in writing a story on the Susan G. Komen/Planned Parenthood ordeal. Tierney Sneed wrote the story. The journo wrote, “Jill Biden tweeted Thursday afternoon, ‘When Joe heard about Susan G. Komen not funding Planned Parenthood anymore, Joe threw away his pink-ribbon Harvest Peach yogurt.’” (SERIOUSLY no editor caught this.) And the good news. Washington Whispers staff humbly issued the following correction and didn’t try to sugarcoat any notion that a terrible mistake was made. That deserves at least an emoticon (as MSNBC’s Meghan McCain might say) of respect.

“Washington Whispers published in error a story stating that Vice President Joe Biden’s wife, Dr. Jill Biden, had sent a message through Twitter saying that the vice president no longer supported the work of the organization Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The story was based on a fake Twitter account.”

Fish Poll: Yesterday we polled readers on the hypothetical of ABC making Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper permanent host of “This Week.” The results were clear: 42.3 percent of you agreed, “Yes, he’s the quintessential Washington insider who knows politics inside and out.” Second highest score comprised 33.33 percent respondents: “Yes, I’m over George Stephanopoulos already.”

Andrew Brietbart

Surprise. Conservative sites love the book. Derek Hunter,a friend of Beitbart’s writing for the Daily Caller, says Breitbart “makes no apologies for his ‘in your face’ style, nor should he.” He praises Breitbart’s mind, saying it’s “like a shotgun – going a thousand miles an hour in every conceivable direction at once.” He gushes that the book “flows with clarity of purpose from one page to the next.” Hunter concludes: “If you trusted the media or the entertainment industry before reading this book, your eyes will be opened.” (Right, because everyone trusts the media.)

TWT also had kind words for Breitbart. Wes Vernon writes that the “narrative takes off like a rocket. The chapter ‘Breakthrough’ is in and of itself well worth the price of ‘Righteous Indignation.’” Breitbart is a “ubiquitous crusader.”

Liberal sites, on the other hand, weren’t so hot to trot on the book.

Conor Friedersdorf of the Atlantic, in a review titled “The Flaws of Breitbartism,” calls Breitbart’s convictions about America “shallow” and says “it’s hard not to pity the man,” not just because he’s “misinformed” but because he’s “built his whole professional life around opposing what in reality is a paranoid delusion.” Friedersdorf rips Breitbart to shreds, concluding: “The core worldview of Andrew Breitbart is easily refuted, bombastically phrased nonsense.”

The Daily Beast‘s Shushannah Walshe questioned several of Breitbart’s talking points in an interview. “Do you really believe the media wants to destroy you?” she asked. To which he replied “Yeah, I would say that the traditional media…are not happy that I exist.” “Do you really believe [the 'Institutional Left'] hate America, or is it just to rile people up?” “Do you get sick of being this angry all the time?”

We’re still waiting on Media Matters‘ review. We’re not 100 percent sure, but we think it may fall into the “critical of Breitbart” category.
