Bloomberg to buy BNA for $990M

Bloomberg is acquiring Arlington-based BNA, an information and research provider in the Legal & Business, Tax & Accounting, and Human Resources areas.

The acquisition gives a shot in the arm to Bloomberg’s Washington, DC presence especially for the recently launched Bloomberg Government as well as Bloomberg Law and, of course, Bloomberg News. BNA has more than 600 reporters, lawyers, and editors in the D.C., metropolitan area, along with a network of national and international correspondents.

Bloomberg will acquire all of the outstanding shares of BNA, which has been wholly owned by current and former employees since 1947, for $39.50 per share. The deal is expected to close later this year.

“BNA’s employees have built a superior franchise and we are enthusiastic about a Bloomberg-BNA combination that will deliver more premium content to our professional audiences,” said Dan Doctoroff, CEO and President of Bloomberg in a news release.
