The sex scandal centered on Former CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus and his mistress has drawn all sorts of parallels to James Bond and other spy novels. In light of it all Ranker.com, a site dedicated to making lists of things, has “13 Torrid Sex Scandals Involving Spies.”

Here are our top three…

3. The Asian Remedy

Won Jeong-hwa was a North Korean spy who in 2001 had affairs with multiple South Korean army officers and passed along their intel to the North. Ranker cites “one source” who suggests Jeong-hwa may have been able to seduce so many officials by having years of special sex training and also using “tricks” like utilizing drug-laced diaphragms to “further enthrall” the men.

Podhoretz Fake ‘Bored’ By BuzzFeed

Commentary‘s John Podhoretz continued his harassment-flirting with BuzzFeed earlier in the week, telling one of their reporters he was late on a development in the Gen. David Petraeus sex scandal.

“Wait, wait, so the FBI agent who launched the [Paula] Broadwell investigation sent SHIRTLESS PICS OF HIMSELF to Jill Kelley?” BuzzFeed‘s McKay Coppins tweeted with a link to a newly-published WSJ story. Paula Broadwell and Jill Kelley are (of course) the two women at the center of the scandal which led to Petraeus’ resignation as CIA chief.

“Do try to keep up,” Podhoretz replied 14 minutes later. “That’s so 18 minutes ago.”

Coppins asserted he had sent his tweet out just three minutes after the story was published. “I was bored by it 90 seconds earlier. And you call yourself BuzzFeed,” Podhoretz said in response. continued…

ABC’s Tapper, Scott Kelley (As in Jill Kelley’s Hubby) Are Fraternity Brothers From Dartmouth Days

It turns out ABC News White House Correspondent Jake Tapper is loosely tied to the sex scandal surrounding Gen. David Petraeus. “True story: Jill Kelley’s husband Scott was in my fraternity,” Tapper tweeted this morning with the hashtags #Dartmouth and #AlphaChi.

Jill Kelley is the woman presumably responsible for Petraeus’ extramarital affair being made public.

Dartmouth, where Tapper and Scott Kelley, now a cancer surgeon, attended college, is home to the now-infamous Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. That’s the one that made headlines this year after one of the brothers wrote a column for the student paper about all the nasty and foul hazing that goes on there.

Alpha Chi Alpha, the fraternity Tapper and Kelley belonged to, have some of the same hazing methods, according to a story published in Business Insider. The difference: Alpha Chi’s hazing methods are supposedly optional.

An AnonymASS yesterday wrote in to complain that while we have created Separated At Births for Holly Petraeus and Jill Kelley, two women implicated by Gen. David Petraeus‘ sex scandal, we have yet to run one for the third woman involved, Paula Broadwell.

Petraeus Sex Scandal Becomes Scandal

The sex scandal centered on Gen. David Petraeus added another juicy layer of “Scandal” yesterday. D.C.-based crisis manager Judy Smith, the woman who inspired ABC’s political drama Scandal, is now involved.

So far, not much is known about what Smith is doing in the case. USA Today reported that her service was retained by Jill Kelley, a Florida socialite who is said to have received threatening emails from Petraeus’ side piece Paula Broadwell. Kelley also reportedly exchanged sexy time emails with top commander in Afghanistan General John Allen. But if Smith’s role in this real life scandal is anything like it is portrayed by actress Kerry Washington on ABC’s Scandal, she’s pulling some serious strings behind the scenes.

General David Petraeus did an interview live on CNN, but we hear he declined questions from any other reporters while there.

White House correspodent Bill Plante also anchored CBS’ webcast “Washington Unplugged” from the briefing room today. He previewed the President’s trip to Asia with fellow White House reporter WSJ‘s Jonathan Weisman.

Invitations for the “First Draft of History,” a Newseum event sponsored by The Atlantic and the Aspen Institute are being extended today. David McGuire is leaving his post as the Director of Communications at the Center for Democracy & Technology to join 463 Communications.

Folio reports, “Consumer magazines posted a one percent increase in the share of the media advertising revenue pie during the first half of 2007 when compared to the same period in 2006, according to the Magazine Publishers of America, citing TNS Media Intelligence figures.”

“In the news, General David Petraeus’ long-awaited progress report on the war in Iraq made the Iraq policy debate last weekâ€™s most heavily covered news story — 36% of all national news coverage was devoted to this story. The public focused intently on Iraq as well. The situation on the ground in Iraq was the most closely followed news story of the week, while one-in-four paid very close attention to Petraeus’ report,” according to the Pew’s weekly News Interest Index.

Media Daily News reports, “Media company chief executives participating in the opening day of Goldman Sachs’ annual Communacopia conference widely acknowledged the vulnerability of conventional television and print advertising, while hedging big bets on online target marketing, which has the potential of generating more wealth and sustained value across all of their platforms and businesses.”

USA Today reports, “Children lose when a company acquires multiple TV stations in their town, according to a study out Thursday from a group that wants to stop the Federal Communications Commission from relaxing ownership rules.”

Ross Douthat writes, “Chait-Mania ’07 is over, but like Will Wilkinson, I want to make one last point. It concerns a secondary thesis of Jon’s book – his argument that the Republican Party, and particularly the Bush Administration, has been able to disguise the radicalism of their agenda by effectively gaming the press corps.”

Wall Street Journal reports, “Walt Disney Co.’s ABC became the latest major network to strike a deal with AOL allowing its full-length prime-time shows to be available free on the Time Warner Inc.-owned portal.”

Reuters reports, “Tribune Co, which is going private in an $8.2 billion deal, said on Thursday that revenue fell in August because of a drop in publishing and advertising sales at its newspapers.”
