Hilary Rosen Returns to ‘Meet the Press’

CNN Contributor Hilary Rosen, who caused a big flap when she said Ann Romney hadn’t worked a day in her life, returns to NBC’s “MTP” this Sunday for the second time since HilaryGate. She has also appeared on ABC’s “This Week” twice in recent months. She was invited on “MTP” shortly after the “scandal” over her comments broke in April,  but quickly backed out of her appearance.

Clarification and Correction: Erika Masonhall of NBC sent us a note saying Rosen appeared on the roundtable two weeks after the scandal broke. Turns out the sometimes getting information straight from the horse’s mouth can be tricky as memory slips the mind. This is actually Hilary’s second time appearing on the roundtable, not the first as we had reported earlier.

Doug Heye turns 40 today: Birthday wishes to House Maj. Leader Eric Cantor‘s (R-Va.) new Deputy Chief of Staff. He and a cadre of friends celebrated over the weekend in Manhattan. Names in the crowd: Sam Dealey, journalist/media-consultant, formerly with Qorvis, NRCC Spokesman Brian Walsh, Ron and Sara Bonjean, Dan Ronayne, NBC’s Erika Masonhall, CNN’s Matt Dornic, Sen. John Thune’s Spokesman Kyle Downey. Some 20 friends attended a Yankees home game Saturday afternoon. The evening was spent in the Village. Doug got a custom T-shirt at PJ Clarke’s. Pooler burns calories during Pool Duty

“Your pooler was able to cover the family photo after all and is hoping the huge amount of running involved burnt off last night’s dinner.” — WSJ White House Correspondent Laura Meckler in a weekend Pool Report.

Spotted at the Nationals game Sunday: NBC Congressional Correspondent Luke Russert, Current TV’s Bill Press and WaPo‘s Tim Carman. A beleaguered Peter Ogburn, producer for the Bill Press Show and FBDC Contributor, begging with his gorilla children to stop kicking the seat of the man in front of them. When Ogburn left the children unattended for 5 minutes to get a beer, an old woman said that he should be “more careful” about leaving children alone in public. He asked her if she was a cop. She replied no and he asked her to please mind her own business.

Is Paul Wharton off his rocker?

Paul Wharton, whose new show “Paul Wharton Style” debuted on the CW Sunday. As many know, he was the wardrobe stylist/image expert on the Real Housewives of D.C. More on the first episode later, but meanwhile, read the crazy sh-t he has been tweeting as of late…Correction — we previously referred to him as a hairdresser. Sorry about that Paul!

From April 11: “Accidentally popped my Ambien, 10 mins before I got a call from my producer to send in a bunch of voiceovers! Omg, this can’t be good!”

Palin, Cee Lo Create Spectacle @ MSNBC After Party

While attendees at another post-WHCD party struggled to gain admittance due to their host’s chronic and unapologetic guest list failures, MSNBC’s guests breezed though check-in and down a sprawling red carpet to the Italian Embassy.  Rather than watching celebrities make their way to an isolated VIP space, MSNBC’s guests rubbed elbows with the likes of Glee’s Jayne Lynch, SNL’s Andy Samberg, Valerie Jarrett, Meghan McCain, Eliot Spitzer, Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ), Bristol Palin with aunt Molly McCann and Rep. Aaron Schock (R-IL).

Perhaps the weekend’s best event, MSNBC’s soiree drew a huge array of journalists – many from competitive networks.   CNN was represented by Ed Henry and Shirley Hung Henry, Edie Emery, Peter Hamby, Mark Whitaker, Sam Feist, Roland Martin, David Bohrman, and Christa Robinson.  We spotted ABC’s Rick Klein, Jim Sciutto and Polson Kanneth, as well as CBS’s Christine Delargy.  Fox News anchor Bret Baier was there.   And so was Greta Van Susteren who made quite an entrance when she and husband John Coale appeared with Todd and Sarah Palin.  The family Palin was swarmed by cameras and party-goers only moments before Cee Lo Green took the stage to perform a short set including his hit song “F**k You.”  As Palin posed for what seemed like thousands of photos, Todd, Bristol and Molly conversed with the hoards of guests who circled their table in the room’s far corner.

“We’re still getting used to this,” Sarah’s sister Molly admitted to FishbowlDC.  “I find it kind of exciting but I’m not around it all the time,” she added.

As we turned away, we nearly bumped into WaPo‘s Ezra Klein who was doing a drive-by “Mean Girls” impression.  The liberal blogger laughed out loud and rolled his eyes as he passed by Palin-palooza.  Back on the dance floor, another former governor was getting a different kind of attention from one Kiki Ryan.  The fearless reporter’s blonde ambition must have been in overdrive on Saturday because we hear she tried to persuade Eliot Spitzer to shake his groove thing.  He kindly declined:

From @burgerinfo:
@keeekster(@Italian Em):Mr. Spitzer,would you like to dance?
Spitzer: Dancings not really my forte
@keeekster:Thats not what I hear #winning

Besides our favorite celebrity bartender and TV host Rachel Maddow who spent the evening slinging drinks, NBCers like Luke Russert, Kelly O’Donnell, Domenico Montanaro, Phil Griffin, Tanya Hayre, Ed Schultz, Dylan Ratigan, Erika Masonhall, Betsy Fischer, Savannah Guthrie and Contessa Brewer were among the guests gifted Starbucks swag, a slice of pizza and bottle of Fiji as they left the fete in the morning’s wee hours.

“MTP” Fetes New Press Rep

MTP's Adam Verdugo, Betsy Fischer and Erika Masonhall c/o WHCInsider

A group of Washington’s journos gathered for cordials and cupcakes at the home of “Meet the Press” (MTP) E.P. Betsy Fischer last night.  The cocktail party was held to welcome Erika Masonhall to the MTP team.  Formerly press secretary for Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT), Masonhall is now the press representative for NBC’s “Nightly News” and “Meet the Press.”

In addition to network bigwigs like Fischer, Washington Bureau Chief Antoine Sanfuentes, David Gregory and NBC News President Steve Capus, some of the District’s top reporters were in the house to raise a glass to MTP’s press rep.  Jeff Zeleny from the New York Times, soon-to-be USA Today reporter Jackie Kucinich, WaPo‘s Paul Kane, Tammy Haddad, Roll Call‘s Jessica Brady and Politico‘s Mike Allen, Jonathan Martin, Manu Raju, and Keach Hagey all found their way out to Fischer’s Falls Church, Va. maison.

*Unfortunately for FishbowlDC, last night we learned the hard way that you should start a car more than once every three months to prevent its battery from dying.  R.I.P. battery and congrats Erika!

For more photos and info from the Masonhall fete, check out WHCInsider here.
