Staff Shuffle at CQ HAR and Budget Tracker

In a memo this afternoon it was announced that Chuck Conlon will be the next editor of CQ House Action Reports, returning to lead the publication that gave him his start in legislative journalism. Conlon had been a HAR legislative analyst for CQ from 1995 until 2004, when he became a founding co-editor of CQ Budget Tracker.  Robert Tomkin will become deputy editor of House Action Reports.

With Chuck’s move to HAR, George Cahlink will take over the lead as CQ Budget Tracker editor. George has been deputy editor of the legislative action team since the CQ Roll Call merger, and before that he was managing editor of Roll Call’s Congress Now bill tracking service.  Joining Chalink in Budget Tracker will be Frances Symes, who will be a staff writer for the publication.  Congrats to Chuck, Robert, George and Frances!

Taking Out the Trash

What we almost missed today…

ABC is stealing WaPo’s Chris Cillizza‘s flavor. Webnewser reports ABC is expanding its digital only content with the launch of The Fix. Only problem is The Fix is already taken by avid Twitter-er Cillizza (almost 10,000 followers total).

In yesterday’s Playbook, Mike Allen predicted this USA Today cover story on religion in America would be a “sure slot on network news.” And he was right- last night ABC, CBS and NBC each ran a piece.

Tipsters bring to our attention today other great talents of IWP lineage: AP’s Anne Flaherty, Pamela Hess and Richard Lardner, Politico’s Manu Raju and Jennifer DiMascio, Boston Globe’s Bryan Bender, Wash Times Eli Lake, and Roll Call CongressNow’s George Cahlink . In the words of one tipster, “the list goes on and on.”
