Roland Martin to Air Special Web Program

Despite being benched at CNN, Roland Martin is carving his own path through Super Tuesday, when he will anchor a special web edition of “Washington Watch.”

On Tuesday, March 6, TV One Cable Network’s chief political editor will host a special Super Tuesday edition of his news show from Howard University’ School of Business Theatre, 2600 Sixth Street. He will broadcast live on the web from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. EST. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.

The event will be a three-hour live web broadcast.

“There is considerable interest among African Americans in this election year, just as it was in 2008,” said Martin in a release. “We want to be able to weigh in on the election results by offering a unique perspective that will not be heard on any other cable news or broadcast channel. By having a live audience of nearly 300 Howard University students, we will also be engaging a significant part of the electorate.”

It won’t all be painfully serious. Comedian Huggy Lowdown will provide comedy for the broadcast.

It’s the fourth and final day of FishbowlDC’s 2011 Summer Superlatives. Though the results are under lock and key, the winners from our first nine categories are already locked-in. By this time tomorrow, the entire Class of 2011 will have been decided and each unknowing honoree will be a mere 48 hours from FishbowlDC glory (winners and results will be announced Monday).

But before we get going today – a tiny twist. Due to an overwhelming tally of Twitter Feud nominations for one Ms. Betsy Rothstein and an underwhelming number for anyone else, we scrapped the category. We’ve got something for everyone but only your vote will determine which one of these sultry sex gods will take home the title (and coordinating Speedo) of FishbowlDC’s Sexiest Male of 2011. Will it be MSNBC and The Grio’s Jeff Johnson, Politico’s Patrick Reis, The Hill’s Hugo Gurdon, Washington’s own George Clooney Kevin Madden or Daily Caller’s Tucker Carlson?

MSNBC Hires New D.C. Contributor

Jeff Johnson, a commentator on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” has joined MSNBC as a contributor and TheGrio.com as a senior correspondent based in Washington, D.C.

Johnson’s beat: education, politics and pop culture. He’ll be TheGrio.com’s first senior correspondent covering the White House and Capitol Hill.

NBC News President Steve Capus made the announcement today.

Johnson is an award-winning journalist. In 2008, he received the National Association of Black Journalists’ Salute to Excellence Award for the “Life & Death in Darfur, Jeff Johnson Reports” series that appeared on BET.
