Washingtonian MOM celebrated it’s second issue Wednesday night in which NBC4′s Eun Yang graces the cover. FishbowlDC put on our parenting boots and jumped right into the celebration (we actually don’t have parenting boots, so we wore our Palladium boots instead). Here’s how it went down.

4:45pm - Begin to figure out when is considered “fashionably late” for a 6:30 event thrown by a (Washingtonian) fashion editor (Kate Bennett). Settle on 6:45.

6:34 - Walk into Room & Board, host and venue of the event, 9 minutes ahead of schedule.

6:35 - Bee line for the champers.

6:36 - Realization that I’m flying solo at a mom magazine event.

6:44 - Good (punctual!) crowd. 40 people approximately, including 4 other men, all looking around, likely pondering their attendance.

7:00 - Arrival of cover girl Yang.

7:10 - Anxiety setting in over the thought of having children. This leads to a refill of champers and quick stop by the food table (nice cheese and charcuterie spread by Screwtop).

Y & N’s Katy Adams Toasted at Teatro

Vino flowed for Katy Adams at Teatro Goldoni on Friday evening. The newest writer to take the reins of the Examiner‘s “Yeas and Nays” column was celebrated by nearly two dozen media types with a lovely three-course dinner hosted by Janet Donovan. In attendance were WBJ‘s Jennifer Nycz-Conner, Nick Massella, Brendan Kownacki, Human Events editor Emily Miller, Roz Plater and Maureen Ume of Fox 5, Roll Call‘s Beth Brotherton and Ali McSherry, Examiner’s Jacque Bland, Mary Bird, Amy McLean of CTIA and of course, Katy’s partner in crime – Nikki Schwab.

The hot topics: Glenn Beck’s weekend rally (Schwab and Miller hashed it out), Donovan’s consumer electronics woes (TiVo, DVD TV setup), and Nikki Schwab’s new “do,” as in hairdo – Schwab treated herself to a little makeover at the Red Door Salon that day.

Journos Fete Kournikova and Cap File

Capitol File Magazine’s Jason Binn, John Colabelli and Sarah Schaffer feted this issue’s cover star Anna Kournikova at Oya last night. The event brought out media types such as Politico‘s Kiki Ryan, WBJ‘s Jennifer Nycz-Conner, CBS News’ Christine Delargy, CNBC’s John Harwood, Examiner‘s Tara Palmeri, CNN Political Director Sam Feist and Michelle Jaconi, new EP for CNN’s John King, USA.

Fishbowl caught up with a very dolled-up Jaconi who told us that she and King are “thrilled by the feedback and support” they received from the launch of John King, USA.

“We received dozens of flower arrangements and gift baskets on the day the show premiered – many from competitive networks,” said Jaconi.

Other guests spotted were Winston Lord, Jessica Gibson and Fingerprint DC’s Jayne Sandman and Barbara Martin.

Journos Convene to Talk Twitter

On Thursday night communications professionals convened at Busboys and Poets for “Twitch! Public Relations in the Age of Social Media.” The event, organized and hosted by PR and social media maven Amanda Miller Littlejohn of Miller Littlejohn Media Group, featured D.C. area journalists from broadcast, radio, online, magazine and print outlets.

Jim Long, long-time cameraman for NBC Universal moderated. Panelists included NPR’s Jamila Bey, Washingtonian contributor McLean Robbins (also of the blog Deacon Does DC), HuffPost’s Arthur Delaney; Washington Business Journal’s Jennifer Nycz-Conner, and WUSA9′s digital correspondent Lindsey Mastis.

Mastis on the necessity of social media in her work: “I rely on social media every day for every story I’m working on.

Robbins added, “Everything I’ve done with social media has allowed me to be more connected to the people I’m talking to.”

The audience engaged throughout the two-hour event using the hashtag #TwitchDC to communicate with one another on the micro-blogging platform Twitter, making comments and posing questions.

This was the first event in an intended series by Littlejohn and Mopwater PR + Media Notes.
