Quotes of the Day

“The reality is none of us is perfect.” — Congressional GOP Primary winner Mark Sanford on CNN’s “The Lead” Wednesday. As we all well know by now, Sanford lied to voters, cheated on his wife and misused taxpayer’s money. On a side note…This is becoming a thing: Jake Tapper keeps referring to Wolf Blitzer as “Mr. Roper” when he shows up on the set of his show.

Ted Turner’s provocative question for TWT‘s Emily Miller

“In CNN green room. Ted Turner asked T. Boone Pickens if I was his girlfriend.” — TWT‘s Emily Miller.

Breitbart editor asks for Fox News reporter’s hand in marriage

“Now that the marriage laws are changing I am thinking of asking for your hand @edhenry” — Breitbart NewsJohn Nolte in reference to Fox News Chief White House Correspondent Ed Henry. Both men are already married, but why not? They’d make a, if not cute, interesting couple.

Something to ask ourselves: “I can’t remember, is Wednesday the day for false equivalencies, not reading the article or something else?” — CBS Political Director and Slate‘s John Dickerson.

Beauty journo raves about large-barrel curling wand

“Tell me what your favorite curling iron is, specifically for beachy waves.” — Beauty blogger Kara Manos. Fellow beauty writer, Living Social Editor Liz McAvoy, replied saying, “I recently got the Remington large-barrel curling wand and reallyy like it — good price & good results!”

Speaking of beachy waves…

“For maximum convenience there are three people working at the Senate ID office and zero working ID printers. #senatequester. It’ll go well with my hippie hair whenever they deign to begin printing IDs again.” — Politico‘s Burgess Everett.

Fox News Contributor speaks sarcastically of “duck dicks”; Carnival Cruise news worsens; and sometimes journos really do express love. Read more

Quotes of the Day

Oh no she didn’t.

“I just wrote a Scandal scene that actually made me blush while writing it. Did not know that was possible.” — Shanda Rhimes, creator of ABC’s provocative Washington-oriented drama “Scandal.” As of late, viewers have been treated to strange shower scenes between the President and first lady — one goes well, one doesn’t. There was also a passionate scene that upset some female fans when the President grabbed Olivia Pope and gained entrance through, ahem, a back door.

NBC’s Chuck Todd gains popularity in Israel

“Ha, @chucktodd made a Passover joke. Netanyahu responds with a pork joke. It’s like the Borscht Belt over here. #ObamainIsrael.” — Avi Mayer, Israel resident.

Journo gets emotional

“I just have so many feelings right now. #TheLastFiveYears” — BuzzFeed‘s Chris Geidner. The Last Five Years is actually a Broadway show, not specifically the last several years of Geidner’s life, although we’re sure he’s emotion-filled about those too.

Supreme Baier Vomit

PinkieKue writes, “Starting to wish Bret Baier came on at 7PM east coast, I always miss it..darn work #foxnews.” FNC’s Bret Baier retweeted and replied (complete with emoticon), “That’s what DVR is for ;-)

Loesch isn’t buying Sanford’s rehabilitated image

“Who’s to say Sanford wouldn’t get distracted again, disappear to pursue another ‘trail?’ Cannot get over this comeback’ ridiculousness.” — Conservative radio host Dana Loesch.

Washington Fashion & Beauty Bloggers Unite at South Moon Under and Bond Over Sushi and Scarves

Did anyone know Washington had such a barrage of fashion bloggers?

Late last week, a flock of them, including April Forozabadi of, Kristina D’Ambrosio of Scene Bisnow, Casey Linsey of K Street Kate, Liz Fassbender of, Jamie Gulin of Greg’s List DC and Casey Mace of, gathered at South Moon Under in Arlington.

The reason? They were being honored as part of DC FABB (Fashion and Beauty Blogger) organization that boasts around 90 members. They also got those splendid goody bags full of Voluspa candles, Free People headbands and Michael Stars scarves. Another incentive: Partygoers drank coconut-infused vodka and ate sushi and cupcakes while perusing the clothing.

Other recognizable guests included Kiki Ryan, a former Politico scribe who now works in communications at Susan G. Komen, Michael Dumlao, consultant, publicist and artist, Krystal Yoseph and Kara Manos of Capitol File magazine and Heather Smith of Rock the Vote.
