On “Morning Joe” Thursday, Mika put in a plug for her mother who joined Twitter at the start of the year, telling viewers to check out the tree sculptures. “I am a sculptor -- Mikasaid I must tweet,” Emilie said in her inaugural tweet back in January.

Politico‘s Executive Editor Jim VandeHei is getting the hell outta there and heading to MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” He has wanted to make his exit for awhile and TV is where he set his sights. MSNBC took notice after seeing the video that VandeHei narrated about how he breathed the very breath of life into Politico and how it has taken the journalism world — and the world — by storm. Some may have noticed VandeHei’s extensive appearance on “Morning Joe” last Thursday while regularly hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough were on vacation.

VandeHei will slowly phase into Willie Geist‘s third-tier co-host role as Geist concentrates on the “TODAY Show.”

Politico had no comment at this time. Editor-in-Chief John Harris was heard wailing in the Politico newsroom. James Hohmann, a reporter, was spotted handing him tissues. Mike Allen, practically VandeHei’s brother, could not be found. Sources say he has fled to Argentina to drown himself in a thick, juicy steak and red wine.

Huntsman and Republicans haven’t seemed to mesh since he ran for president. In April, Huntsman curiously compared the party to communist China. And as someone who saw him deliver an obviously scripted “unscripted” speech at George Washington University, I can say he’s not that inspiring.

Discussing his book on the “Dateline” last week, morning weatherman Al Roker recalled a time he accidentally shit himself while trying to “pass a little gas” on his way to the White House press room. “I pooped my pants,” Roker said.

It was an admission that took on a life of its own last week and Scarborough wasn’t ready to put the skids on.

While talking about beauty pageants and a thing called “butt glue” this morning, Scarborough said “butt glue would have come in handy for Al Roker when he went to the White House.”

Joke No. 2 came when Scarborough apologized to co-host Mika Brzezinski for heatedly yelling at her last week. Scarborough said he had three New Year’s resolutions: Don’t angrily yell at Brzezinski again, interrupt her on the show less and “not to poop my pants next time I visit the White House.”

McMorris Rodgers smiled and didn’t try to correct the host.

But actually her last name is Rodgers. Full name: Cathy McMorris Rodgers. And she’s a congresswoman, not a congressman. But seeing as the GOP struggles to bring women into positions of committee leadership, maybe that slip was understandable.

On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” today, Co-Host Mika Brzezinski said the movie was “the worst thing I’ve ever seen. … That was insanely terrible.”

“Even on Lifetime it’s the worst thing,” concurred Bloomberg News‘ Margaret Carlson, a guest on “Morning Joe.” NBC’s White House Correspondent Chuck Todd echoed the sentiment, comparing it to a Saturday Night Live skit. “We’re going to find out that was all really comedy,” he said. “It’s a dark comedy. It’s hilarious if you look at it that way.”

Particularly illuminating was when Mika explained why she felt the need to smash 9-year-old Annabell‘s face into her bosom. As co-host Joe Scarborough playfully mocked her, Mika explained that poor Annabell (not pictured here, that’s happy Harper) was getting booed and screamed at for voicing her presidential pick of Mitt Romney.

Christie’s wife, Mary Pat, also on the program with the physique of a toothpick, remarked, “We just can’t let it bother us. We can’t.”

Christie, however, had another take, reminding Mika of his thick skin. “The way I look at it is, if I went and lost 80 pounds in the next year, they’d have something else to pick on me about,” he said. “They’d have some other kind of snarky headline whether it’s the Post or any other publication. When you’re in public life that’s what you’ve got to expect. And if it isn’t this it would be my hair, and if it isn’t my hair, it would be my nose or my eyes or whatever. What I say to myself, I know who I am, that’s why this stuff doesn’t bother me all that much. When I was younger it would bother me more, but I’m going to be 50 in two weeks. You grow a much thicker skin at that point…I don’t want to be a reactor. I want to be a proactive person.”

A Washington Examiner editorial Tuesday says it won’t tolerate campaigns rewriting and approving quotes post interviews with President Obama and Mitt Romney: “Examiner Editorial: All the news that’s fit to be censored.”  Headline translation: “Paper that doesn’t score big interviews revises its big interview policy … you know, just in case.” To quote Eminem, the Examiner “acts like a midget with a ladder in its back pocket.” The editorial came in response to a NYT report Tuesday revealing that the Obama and Romney camps hold conditions over reporters and, however begrudgingly, they agree to them. Interviews? No sweat. But quotes must be approved and can be edited after. WaPo‘s Erik Wemple analyzed the practice Tuesday. He quoted NYT‘s Mark Leibovich saying, “To introduce middle ground adds needless complication to the transaction.” Politico‘s Dylan Byers, who sometimes poses as someone who wants to purchase ads because his ethics are that good, weighed in on the Examiner’s reaction and NYT ethics this morning.
