The Hill has dipped into Roll Call‘s feature section to find their replacement for their Briefing Room blogger, a position recently vacated by Mike O’Brien. The new hire is the debonair and mustachioed Jonathan Easley.

O’Brien recently left the publication for MSNBC.com. Before Roll Call, Easley, a newbie to the journalism profession after working in corporate finance, was previously an editorial fellow at Salon.com.

Congratulations to Easley. He begins Monday.

UPDATE: We failed to note that Easley has been a Roll Call intern. He remarked, “Yeah, feature writing intern, my bad, wasn’t trying to deceive. I have Feature Writer on my Twitter because 33-year-old manterns are rarely called debonair.”

Today is The Hill‘s Mike O’Brien‘s last day at the publication. O’Brien, who runs the Blog Briefing Room, has taken a job with MSNBC.com.

Eric Zimmermann, a blogger for The Hill‘s Briefing Room Blog, is leaving the publication to go to work for the The Benenson Strategy Group as an analyst. Zimmermann has been with the publication just shy of a year and a half. His last day is Friday.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at The Hill and have learned a lot,” Zimmermann wrote to FishbowlDC. “I just decided journalism wasn’t for me right now. I’m very excited about the opportunity to work at Benenson Strategy Group.”

Since Zimmermann is not leaving for a competing publication, he was not asked to forgo his two-weeks notice and pack up his things within 20 minutes like the last blogger, Tony Romm, who left The Hill for a job at Politico.

Bloggers Mike O’Brien, Jordan Fabian, and Elise Viebeck will pick up the slack and carry on with the Briefing Room blog. Zimmermann has been one of four scribes who write for the blog.
