Media Meets Miss America @ Milano

Glamour’s Linda Kramer Jenning, Reliable Source’s Amy Argetsinger, Examiner’s Tara Palmeri, MTP’s Betsy Fischer, The Hill’s Emily Goodin, Politics Daily’s Annie Groer are a few of the names that joined Franco Nuschese and Tammy Haddad for a lunch with Miss America Caressa Cameron and Miss DC Jennifer Corey today at Cafe Milano.

Bubbly flowed while Haddad and friends shared stories of Miss Americas past, offered up pageant trivia and traded gossip from Kitty Kelley‘s new Oprah biography (okay, maybe that part was me). Just before dessert, Nuschese presented Cameron, who intends to pursue a career in media, with a Miss America sculpture made of chocolate.

Other notables in attendance included Qorvis’ Kelley McCormick, Verizon’s Edward Senn, Susan G. Komen’s Pam Stevens and Miss America Tour Manager Karen Nocella.

Party Video: A Dinner For Katherine O’Hearn

At The Palm restaurant Thursday night, Washingtonians came out to toast Katherine O’Hearn, who has taken a new position at ABC News.

Attendees: Katherine O’Hearn, Tammy Haddad, Betsy Fischer, Pam Stevens, Emily Lenzner, John P. Coale, Jeremy Bash, Mike Allen, Steve McMahon, Jessica Yellin, Hilary Rosen, Ed Henry, Michael Feldman.

Topics discussed:

  • What are sexually charged television terms? Nominees: “Firm offer.” “Late night pull out.” “Deep tease.” “Hard out.” And the Sunday producer classic: “How could they be doing them when they should be doing me?”

  • Mike Allen‘s classic line: Although the newspaper industry may be dying, “if you’ve got the love, then love is never a dying industry.”

  • Why was there a PowerPoint presentation taking place in the same restaurant on the topic of “Mycardial ischemia Safety Data for Avandia”?

  • A Toast For Betsy’s 16th

Newsweek Editor Jon Meacham hosted a lunch for “Meet the Press”‘s Betsy Fischer yesterday, to celebrate Fischer’s 16 years with the program. VIPs included Mary Matalin, Andrea Mitchell, Tammy Haddad, Dee Dee Myers, Capricia Marshall, Katie Thompson, Susan Hirschmann, Kathryn Lehmann, Hilary Rosen, Pam Stevens, Juleanna Glover and Kristian Denny Todd.

Meacham pointed out her Louisiana roots and praised her “intelligence with steely grace.”

“She manages the place where civilized conversation takes place about the direction of the country,” said Meacham.

The group tossed around some “Meet the Press” trivia and talked about Judith Regan’s lawsuit.

    Journos Eat Food!

FishbowlDC headed to the Palm today to flirt apparently to see what happens when you combine a bunch of media nerds (Chris Matthews, Tucker Carlson, Tammy Haddad, Shelby Poduch, Pam Stevens, Katherine O’Hearn and Ted Greenberg) with an attractive celebrity: Miss America 2007 Lauren Nelson.

Not missing a beat — despite the hot blonde at the table — the media types batted around the latest industry gossip as Nelson signed copies of the Miss America program and refused to reveal which Miss America contestants she didn’t like (not to worry: she likes Miss D.C.). She also clarified that it’s not a tiara…it’s a crown (tiara’s don’t go all the way around the head).

There was enough dish served up about the television industry to make TVNewser’s head explode. Unfortunately for him, it was all off the record. We did, however, learn that Matthews has a deep disdain for blue cheese, Carlson loves the Palm’s pickles and Haddad is a fan of the fried asparagus.
