Sally Quinn Dishes About “Dueling Bradlee Weddings”

Like sands through the hourglass…

days of our lives.jpg Quinn Bradlee, son of Sally Quinn and Ben Bradlee is set to marry his pregnant fiancee, Pary Williamson in Washington on April 10. The only problem is, Ben’s granddaughter Greta is getting married the same day.

According to Sally, this family drama has been made “public and messy.” So what better way to smother the fire than to share all the details in a piece for the Washington Post? Quinn says, “it’s a conflict that I hope readers can understand — and avoid in their own lives.”

So why the dueling dates? Sally takes the blame, saying, “[it] was an inadvertent mistake on my part. My error had nothing to do with the two couples who will wed that day.”

Georgetown’s Nathan’s To Close Sunday, Q&A Cafe Temporarily Displaced

In an email to friends and supporters this week Carol Joynt announced this Sunday will be Georgetown restaurant Nathan’s last day in business.

“After 40 years of serving millions of happy and loyal customers, and opening its doors 365 days of every year, Nathans will close at last call on Sunday, July 12. We hope over the next week you will find the time to come in and enjoy a last drink and meal with us. We wish we could give it away, but economic reality is that we need your dollars.”

Joynt has been struggling with the restaurant’s debt since the death of her husband Howard Joynt in 1997. The former TV journo has hosted interviews with various other journos and Washingtonians in the Q&A Cafe at Nathan’s, which airs on DC cable. Joynt hopes to continue the program after the restaurant’s closing. “Mortal Friends” author Jane Stanton Hitchcock will be Q&A’s last guest at Nathan’s this Thursday.

More from our pals at the Examiner‘s Yeas & Nays and WaPo‘s the Reliable Source.

Congrats To Quinn Bradlee & Fiancee Pary Williamson!

There are few things that could steal some attention from the White House Correspondents Association Dinner this week… Quinn Bradlee‘s engagement to girlfriend Pary Williamson is certainly one of them!

The son of Ben Bradlee and Sally Quinn popped the question on the phone Sunday night after the couple had had a fight, according to Playbook. WHCInsider reports the ring is a Bradlee family heirloom that beloged to Ben’s great-great-grandmother.

Williamson is a yoga instructor Bradlee met earlier this year, actually at the suggestion of Maureen Dowd.

Got a blind item, interesting link, funny note, comment, birthday, anniversary or anything of the sort for Morning Reading List? Drop us a line.

It is day 102 covering the Obama administration and week 13 for us. What we know and what we’re reading this Friday morning…

More on the print/digital combo at WaPo here.

AP: Reporters at the Chicago Tribune say they believe the marketing department in recent weeks solicited subscribers’ opinions on stories before they were published, a practice they said raises ethical questions, as well as legal and competitive issues.

Named president and publisher of the Gannett Co. flagship earlier this week, David Hunke — former CEO of the Detroit Media Partnership — says some paid content could emerge on the USA Today Web site and he is not shy about making other innovations if they are required. (E&P)

Market Watch’s Jon Friedman: “So far, so good for Meet the Press host David Gregory. He has kept the show on top in the ratings war, after directly following the interim host, Tom Brokaw. Still, it could be argued that NBC handed him a glamorous, high-profile, no-win job.” Read on here.

Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer, BBC’s Katty Kay, Al-Jazeera Josh Rushing and Daily Beast’s Tina Brown on the White House Press Corps and the cable news “landscape” here.

Politico reports CNN staffers were warned of protestors of Lou Dobbs‘ immigration.

Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly says the White House press corps has been “neutered.”

More on Ben Bradlee, Sally Quinn and Quinn Bradlee in Washingtonian here. “After reading A Different Life, you might understand Sally’s need to hover. Quinn Bradlee’s is a brutally honest tale of how he grew up hampered by physical and mental maladies in a world of wealth and privilege.”
