Journo Perks: A Free Blow Dry

This is one that the female journos — and CNN’s John King — should love.

In the mail this week we received one free blowout from the new Drybar, which opens in the Washington D.C. area today. We’re told a decent swath of female journos around town received the free coupons. The two locations around here are Georgetown and Bethesda. The salon is for blow dries only and normally costs $40 a pop. Women can choose from a range of styles like big hair, beachy and sleek and smooth.

Just delightful.

ABC News Announces Steph as “GMA” Host

George Stephanopoulos has been named the new anchor of “Good Morning America,” ABC News President David Westin announced today.

Stephanopoulos will anchor the broadcast with Robin Roberts and replaces Diane Sawyer, who will become the new anchor of “World News” beginning Dec. 21. Juju Chang has been named the news anchor for “Good Morning America” and Chris Cuomo has been promoted to co-anchor of “20/20″ alongside Elizabeth Vargas. Cuomo has also been named ABC News’ chief law and justice correspondent, reporting for all broadcasts and platforms across the news division. Sam Champion will remain the weather anchor on the morning show.

George will take on the role of chief political correspondent and continue to anchor “This Week” until a replacement is named.

Taking Out The Trash

What we almost missed today…

• Good Morning America’s weather anchor Sam Champion was in our neck of the woods today to celebrate Earth Day from Great Falls on the Potomac. He took a bit of a spill learning how to repel down a rock, but TVNewser reports everyone is ok. They also have the video.

• “Journalist Jake” gets called out by Fidel Castro in a column.

• ABC’s George Stephanopoulos is in Tehran to interview Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and gives us some insight on his blog today. Stephanopoulos also asked to see jailed journalist Roxana Saberi. He was not allowed, but he did visit Saberi’s parents, who told him she will begin a hunger strike tomorrow. The interview will air on Sunday’s This Week.

• We didn’t think Twitter was any cooler because Oprah was doing it, but if MoDo joins, that just may be another story…
