WaPo Making Moves in the Big Apple

FYI: The Washington Post is opening up a design and development shop in NYC -and they’re hiring…

The Washington Post today announced WPNYC, the New York-based design and development office of The Washington Post that will be led by Director of Digital Strategy Sarah Sampsel and Principal [Software ] Architect Greg Franczyk. The Post’s plan to expand its footprint in New York City includes adding more than a dozen employees across design and technology.

New positions will include designers, strategists, information architects, as well as experts in user experience, prototyping and development. The team will be focused on the future of The Post’s web platform and creating a faster, more reader-focused product.

“New York is an epicenter in the design world and we are excited to be able to tap a whole new crop of talent,” said Emilio Garcia-Ruiz, Managing Editor of The Washington Post. “Their job is really to rethink the web and make our site more dynamic, flexible and easy to use.”

WaPo Announces New Director of Digital

WaPo has named Sarah Sampsel as new Director of Digital. She takes over for Justin Ferrell, who’s going on a Knight Fellowship at Stanford.
