And on the 8th Day…

…God poached a CQ Roll Call staffer. We tallied up last week a total of nine resignations at the newsgroup in the past 60 days.  Unfortunately for CQRC, the count hit double digits when Scott Ferrell announced his divine departure on Friday.

The good news:  the award-winning photographer wasn’t poached by Politico, Bloomberg or National Journal.

The bad news: now even God is getting in on the action and recruiting staffers away from CQRC.

According to an internal memo memo by John Dineen, Ferrell is taking a full-time position as a pastor with his church in Warrenton.  Congrats to Ferrell and say a few prayers for FishbowlDC – we need all the help we can get!

Roll Call Photog Wins Choice Award

Roll Call‘s Scott Ferrell has won a Director’s Choice award from Pictures of the Year International, the oldest photo journalism contest in the world. The Missouri School of Journalism gave Ferrell the award.

The photograph, taken of House GOP leadership listening to President Obama‘s 2010 SOTU address, was chosen because it showed “a visual portrayal of society” and fostered “an understanding of the issues facing our civilization.”

The picture is part of a Newseum exhibit of award-winning photos and will be on display through October 31st. In this picture, Ferrell’s can be seen on the bottom left.
